Join Us for a Writing Adventure in Kathmandu, Nepal!
February 17-27, 2023 (11 days, 10 nights)
With Jeff Greenwald, Laurie Wagner & James Hopkins
A breathtaking journey of writing and exploration in partnership with the Himalayan Writers Workshop.
Ethical Traveler and the Himalayan Writers Workshop invite you to experience the extraordinary arts, spiritual life, and beauty of Nepal this coming February. During our 10-day exploration of Kathmandu and its environs we will immerse ourselves in the daily life of the former kingdom, and write intimate, 200 > 600 word sketches which encapsulate our connections with the vibrant energy of this ancient Himalayan realm.
Jeff Greenwald (Ethical Traveler’s Executive Director) has written three books on Nepal (including Shopping for Buddhas) and will serve as a writing guide and cultural liaison. Laurie Wagner is a brilliant writing coach, and the creator of 27Powers.org. James Hopkins, who has studied Buddhist practice for many years, has lived in Nepal since 2007.
Our itinerary is inspiring. We’ll begin our mornings with meditation, followed by two hours of “wild writing:” a loose and liberating writing technique. Afterwards we’ll explore the temples and alleyways of the Kathmandu Valley, meet with artists and spiritual leaders, and peruse the amazing bazaars of the old city. We will learn about some of the challenges faced by this landlocked country as it attempts to build a fledgling democracy in a charged political region. To this end we have also timed the trip to coincide with Losar, the Tibetan New Year, as celebrated around the sacred Boudha stupa.
It’s going to be quite a journey. Please join us!
Price includes hotels, two meals a day, guides, ground transportation, admissions, meditation sittings, and gratuities. Airfare to Nepal is not included.
